Are there any examples of firearms manufactured previous to 1905 which have the “WP” within the receiver and barrel Along with the “Oval P” about the barrel? In that case, this would signify a mail get barrel staying set up via the Winchester repair service shop.

Dependant on what I've noticed and browse in other resources, the oval (P) proof mark wasn't introduced right up until 1908. Previous to that point, Winchester marked “OF” (outside fitted) on The underside of the barrel underneath the forend stock to the mail purchase barrels. I've see many of these on Model 1885 Single Shot Rifles that predate 1908.
